About the SPADRA Consortium
Strengthening Partnerships to Advance Disability Rights in Africa
Project Vision & Objective
The Strengthening Partnerships to Advance Disability Rights in Africa (SPADRA) project is led by a Pan-African Consortium comprising the African Disability Forum (ADF), Disabled Women in Africa (DIWA), and Inclusion Africa (IA).
The project aims to advance gender and disability rights in Africa, starting in Benin, Ghana, Malawi, and Zambia. It seeks to strengthen the capacity of Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs), establish cross-disability and mainstream partnerships at Pan-African and national levels, and support the modernisation and implementation of legal frameworks at community level.
Core Pillars & Strategic Scope

Legal Framework Tracking
Monitoring national legislation, advocating modern policy reforms, and promoting the domestication of the African Disability Protocol (ADP) at community and national levels.
Gender & Rights Inclusion
Advancing targeted advocacy focused on women and girls with disabilities, ensuring intersectional protections across all partner networks.
OPD & Partnership Building
Strengthening Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs) and building cross-disability and mainstream partnerships at Pan-African and national levels.
WCAG Accessibility Standards
